Production/Post/Sound Design

As my reputation spread as a music recording engineer I began to be approached by film makers looking for the same quality in their productions.

While many recording engineers find the production world to be way to hectic, I find the fast paced work to be exciting and challenging. My only qualm being the utter lack of respect often given to one of a films most powerful aspects.

Intelectual Underground Cover

2004

My first production, instead of using the camera as a recording device, I went for a dual system style production; recording everything into my laptop and later syncing it to frame. As is common in independent productions, under the title of "sound guy", I boomed, monitored, and recorded production sound, directed the ADR sessions, worked on the sound design, and made the stereo mix for this short production.

Forgiveness

2006

For this nationally broadcast short film, I worked on the 5.1 surround mix. The director, Delana Lindsey, having already found someone to do the mix, came to me hoping I could work with them to help improve the final product. Having recently completed improvements to Cogswell's Studio C to a 5.1 surround monitoring studio, I suggested that I work on the surround mix. Five days before the deadline I was given the stereo mix down which lacked much of the ambient sound necessary for 5.1 among other problems. I immediately got to work and the result was a great success.

Worry Wort Poster 2007

The latest film by Rory Campbell. For this production, I again worked in the position of "sound guy". In charge of production recording, boom, ambient, voice overs, and the final 5.1 surround mix. The production sound came out so clean the there was no need for ADR or foley, a first. The short will soon be entered into the film festivals.
