Having always been technically inclined, friends and family would often rely on my skills. Through this I was able to develop the abilty to explain complex technical systems to laymen. With time more and more people came to rely on my technical skills, whether to hook up a DVD player to a TV or build a computer from parts my technical skill have been employed by many.
